Alston Moor Historical Society walk

Sunday 5 August - Industrial Alston, free guided walk, although donations to the Historical Society welcome ;). Meet at 2pm in the main car park at South Tynedale Railway to find out about Alston's industrial past. The walk will last approximately 2 hours. No need to book, just turn up.

Alston Moor Parish Council Monthly Meeting

Monday 6 August - Parish Council Monthly Meeting in Alston Town Hall at 7 pm. On the agenda is the waste sites, pigeons in the Market Cross, weed spraying, equestrian events on Tyne Willows, public lights, public toilets and more.

Please come along and see what the Council does. All very welcome.

 

Dominoes Night

Saturday 11 August - Nenthead Leek Club presents an evening of dominoes at The Miners Arms on Saturday 11th August at 8pm-ish. Witty banter and raffle prizes will be on offer to all! Contact The Miners Arms for more details.

 

Perseid Meteor Shower – Killhope

Sunday 12 August - Lie back in your deck chair and enjoy the show! Kicking off with folk music, and kids activities (including rocket launching) the evening will build up to the main event with projected astronomical images, drop-in space-themed activities and much, much more. From ten onwards the Perseid Meteor Shower should result in 60 to 70 shooting stars per hour. Full details here:

Walkers Are Welcome guided walk

Sunday 19 August - Firstly, well done to the 25 people who walked the 15 miles up to the summit of Cross Fell and back on the last walk, including Jasmine, Wilf and Andrew from SKS who completed the challenge as a sponsored event to raise money for the play areas across Alston Moor. Every Saturday - from 12pm - 3pm. (Please note new opening times) Alston Moor Archives in the Town Hall. Come and check out Alston Moor's history. Have you recently moved into the area and want to know the history of your house? Or do you have ancestors here? Maybe you can find out more about them. All welcome.
