Free draughtproofing and money-saving advice for Alston Moor households
If you're feeling the pinch from winter draughts and high heating bills, tap into some free services that have just been launched. Linked to the Alston Moor Greenprint, there's energy-saving kits available free of charge, advice on ways to use less energy and even a free telephone advice service for help with benefits, debts and other money problems. The schemes are offered through Cumbria Action for Sustainability (CAfS), and they include an extra draughtproofing service for Alston Moor residents, thanks to funding from Cumbria Community Foundation and Alston Moor Community Fund. Contact CAfS to find out which of their services you might be eligible for on 01768 210276 or email.

Alston Moor Greenprint - Community Food Growing and Enterprise
A feasibility study is underway into community food growing and the development of a food growing enterprise on Alston Moor. As part of our initial research we would be interested in talking to Alston Moor businesses that either sell fruit and vegetables, honey, herbs or dairy produce directly to the public, or buy in those products for use in their kitchen, café, pub, restaurant, accommodation etc. We want to build a picture of where produce currently comes from, or is bought in from, on Alston Moor to evidence need for local demand and supply that could be met by a local food growing enterprise. We'd also be particularly interested in hearing from farmers or landowners who may be interested in diversifying into food growing. Please get in touch with if you are interested and would like to know more.
