Garrigill Village Hall Bunkroom is a great place for an overnight stopover for walkers and cyclists, ideally situated for the Pennine Way and C2C cycle route. With free wifi and USB charging ports, our cosy upstairs bunkroom provides a welcoming retreat after a tiring but fulfilling day's activity on the Pennine fells. There are two comfy sofas on which to relax (one converts to a double bed) and eight single bunk beds for which we provide pillows and pillow slips. Your booking includes shared use of the well-equipped kitchen, showers and toilets. There's a spin dryer, dehumidifier and hanging rails in the drying room for drying wet kit overnight.
Do bring your own sleeping bag or select the bedding hire option when booking. Please note there is no reliable mobile phone signal in the village. The nearest signal reception points are on higher ground as you enter or leave the village. There is a public phone box. Please note that our village pub re-opens late Autumn 2022. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but must be kept off the camping field which adjoins a children's playground. Bunkroom charge per overnight stay (from 4.00pm to 10am) is £18 per person per night. Optional bedding hire is £5 per person per stay for freshly laundered pillow, pillowcase, fitted sheet, 10.5 single quilt with cover, your bed being made up for arrival. For larger groups we can also offer camp beds in the main hall: £10 per person per night - you'll need your own sleeping bag and pillow. It's simplest to book and pay online in advance. You can't make an online booking on the same day you intend arriving - you will need phone us on 01434 647516 to check availability..
There is no public transport to Garrigill. For buses Alston is nearest and for trains it's Penrith, Haltwhistle and Langwathby. Alan our local taxi operator may be around to whisk you off to the the several pubs and restaurants in the metropolis of Alston, four miles down the road. Food and drink
The bunkroom has a large dining table if you're self-catering using our kitchen facilities. The village post office stores stocks fresh and packaged food and drinks. They're usually open until 4pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and also on Saturday morning. You can phone them on 01434 381257 to enquire about placing a grocery order for collection outside opening hours. Our village pub, the George & Dragon, is currently undergoing a major makeover with a view to reopening late autumn 2022. There are pubs, cafes and restaurants in Alston four miles away.
